New Season Wizard
The New Season Wizard is designed to help players create a new season in Tennis Captain
in the easiest possible manner. The wizard walks you through the complete season
creation process, step by step. When you click the Finish button, all of the
information from the preceding screens is saved into Tennis Captain, the wizard screen
shuts down, and the LineUp screen opens, ready for you to begin creating your first
lineup!
To start up the New Season Wizard, click on the button labeled "New Season" or
click on the "Edit" menu and then select "Create New Season" (or press
Ctrl-W).

On this screen you select the season and season-type you are going to create.
- Select the year.
- Select either ALTA (Atlanta's big tennis league) or USTA
- Select whether this is an Adult league or a Junior (kids) league.
- Select the Season. Note, USTA only plays in Summer and Winter, so you cannot
choose Spring or Fall.
Click on the "Next Step >>>" button at the bottom of the screen when
you are done selecting the season.
Note: A warning message will appear of you have selected a season that already exists
in Tennis Captain.

On this screen you select the players for this season.
If this is your first time using Tennis Captain, there will be no players in the list to
select from. You will use the "Add a New Player" button to add players to
the list. The new players are automatically "selected".
If this is not your first season using Tennis Captain, you will see players in the list
from previous seasons. Some of these players may be on the roster for this new
season we are creating, and some may not. To select players that are already on the
list, simply click once on their name (the will be highlighted - white letters on a black
backround). You will probably need to add more players, so use the "Add a New
Player" button to do that. The new players are automatically
"selected".
Click on the "Next Step >>>" button at the bottom of the screen when
you are done Adding and Selecting the Players for your roster.

On this screen you will add your opponents (i.e. other Teams) into Tennis Captain.
If this is your first time using Tennis Captain, the only team you will see in the list is
BYE and your team (which you entered when you started Tennis Captain for the first time).
If this is not your first season using Tennis Captain, you will see teams that have been
added in previous seasons. You can re-use the existing teams if you happen to be
playing them again.
If you live in the Atlanta area, click on "Import a Team" to select from a
built-in list of most Atlanta team locations. the Import Team screen will pop up and
you can scroll through the list of teams to find the team you want to import. When
you do, click on the team name once to highlight it and then click on the
"Import" button.
If you are not in Atlanta, or the team you are looking for is not in the database,
click on the "Add a New Team" button. Type in the name of the team and
then click OK.
NOTE!!! At this time you are NOT selecting which team is
team#1 and team#2, etc. That comes on the NEXT screen. On this screen, you are
only adding teams to the Tennis Captain database so you can PICK FROM them on the next
screen.
Click on the "Next Step >>>" button at the bottom of the screen when
you are done adding teams.

On this screen you select the teams for your division for this new season.
You should have received a "packet" from your tennis league indicating who your
opponents are and which team has been designated as TEAM 1 and which on is TEAM 2, and so
on.
Click on the little arrow on each box and select the team that corresponds to the team
# on the left side of the box.
If you have a 7 team division, use the BYE team for the eighth team.
If you cannot find a team, you can click on the "<<< Prev Step"
button and add it in.
Click on the "Next Step >>>" button at the bottom of the screen when
you are done selecting Team #1 thru Team #8.

On this screen you begin setting up the pairings (who plays whom) for this
season.
In the packet from your tennis league you will find these "pairings" indicating
who each team plays for each week of the season.
Type in the Team Number for each box. Note that when you type the team number in,
the cursor will automatically jump you to the next box. This makes entering the team
numbers quick and easy.
When you complete the first week's pairings, your cursor will jump into the date box
below the pairings boxes. Type in the month and date of the first match. Enter
it as two digits (e.g. May 12 would be entered as 05/12). Hit the TAB key and
your cursor will jump to the first match for week 2 AND all of the other match dates will
default to 1 week intervals. If you wish to modify any week's date, simply click on
the date and change it.
Click on the "Next Step >>>" button at the bottom of the screen when
you are done entering Week #1 and Week#2.
Note: The "Initialize Pairings" button will fill in one of
the most common sets of pairings used. However, CAREFULLY
check your schedule against the numbers put into the box by this feature!!!

On this screen you continue setting up the pairings (who plays whom) for this season.
Click on the "Next Step >>>" button at the bottom of the screen when
you are done entering Week #3 and Week#4.

On this screen you continue setting up the pairings (who plays whom) for this season.
Click on the "Next Step >>>" button at the bottom of the screen when
you are done entering Week #5 and Week#6.

On this screen you complete the pairings (who plays whom) for this season.
Click on the "FINISH" button at the bottom of the screen when you are done
entering Week #7.
All of your season information will be saved and the LineUp screen will load with your
new season selected and you will be ready to start entering your first lineup!
NOTE 1: You will want to add more information about your
players (such as phone numbers, email address, league numbers, etc.) after the wizard
finishes. To do this, click on the PLAYERS button or, from the menu, select Edit |
Players.
NOTE 2: You will want to add more information about your
opponents (such as Captain's name, phone, email address, etc.) after the wizard finishes.
To do this, click on the TEAMS button or, from the menu, select Edit | Teams.
Other Features
- Click on the yellow ? for online help.
- At any time you can click on "<<< Prev Step" to go back and make
changes to another screen.
- You can click on Cancel at any time to quit the wizard and lose your changes.
